The Cold Rush (Ossur) unit provides mechanical compression by circulating cold water using a motored pump. The unit does not generate condensation. The Cold Rush unit can be delivered to the hospital operating room after your surgery. The cost is the second-highest of the four options reviewed on this webpage. This device does not provide pneumatic compression. This device does not have a programmable timer or automatic shut-off.

The Cryocuff (Air Cast) unit provides mechanical compression by circulating cold water using gravity and is therefore suitable for treatment to the lower extremities. The unit does not generate condensation. The unit also features the option to be delivered to the hospital operating room after your surgery. The cost is the third-highest of the four options reviewed on this webpage and does not provide pneumatic compression or feature a motor to circulate the water. This device does not have a programmable timer or automatic shut-off.

At Home Remedies, such as a bag of frozen vegetables or ice packs can be purchased at your local department store. The unit does not provide mechanical compression unless used as part of a manual process that incorporates a tensor bandage.  The unit produces water and condensation.
